چکیده

We propose, DONUT, a real-time producers/consumers model, as an abstract model for developing real-time scheduling and resource allocation techniques in the domain of real-time network management. Under this model, we consider not only the availability but also the freshness of the consumed resources (i.e., “donuts”). Given a resource type <, two quantitative measures are defined to evaluate the freshness of the consumed type < resources: worst case freshness (WCF<) and average case freshness (ACF<). In this paper, we address the freshness problem when all tasks are periodic and all resources are non-sharable/nonreusable. We show generally how to find an allocation scheme to optimize bothWCF< and ACF< simultaneously. Finally, we apply our result to extend the priority ceiling protocol to work with general unbounded semaphores, where Wait and Signal operations need not be in pairs in one task.

Sharable versus Non-Sharable Real-Time Resources

In [WK94], we define a real-time producers/consumers problem where all tasks are periodic and all resources are non-sharable/non-reusable. In this paper, we study the same problem but with sharable resources. We define a quantitative measure, resource freshness ratio (RFR), to represent the effect of sharable versus non-sharable resources on improving the resource freshness when tasks start sim...

Resource Freshness in Real Time Scheduling

We define and study a real-time producers/consumers problem, where the production/consumption relations are nondeterministic. In other words, a consumer can get one unit of resources from any one of the producers, and one producer can provide one unit of resources for any one of the consumers. Furthermore, a producer for one type of resourcesmight be the consumer for another type of resources. ...

ارزیابی سیاست‌های زمان‌بندی در نسل چهارم شبکه‌های سلولی (LTE)

New generation of wireless networks, LTE and WiMAX, supports many services which consume a lot of resources (such as VOIP, Video Conference, Digital Video, Multimedia streams and online Multi-player Games). Supporting multi-media services in wireless communication systems provide new resource allocation challenges. Because of high loads in downlink, efficient resource allocation is vital in dow...

An Effective Task Scheduling Framework for Cloud Computing using NSGA-II

Cloud computing is a model for convenient on-demand user’s access to changeable and configurable computing resources such as networks, servers, storage, applications, and services with minimal management of resources and service provider interaction. Task scheduling is regarded as a fundamental issue in cloud computing which aims at distributing the load on the different resources of a distribu...

A Preemptive multimode resource constrained project scheduling model with cash flows

Resource constrained project scheduling problem is one of the most important issues in project planning and management. The objective function of this problem is to minimize the completion time of a project. When there is budget constraint or high risk for investment, using the criteria such as cash flows is so important. The development of computer systems and processors makes it possible to t...
